SANTA CLARA, Calif.––May 31, 2016 IC Microsystems, a fabless semiconductor supplier of specialized analog and mixed-signal ICs, and Silvaco, Inc., a leading supplier of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, today announced a partnership to launch the support for OpenAccess-based (OA) interoperable process design kits (iPDKs) that has been recently added to Silvaco’s custom IC design tools portfolio.
The adoption of iPDKs is growing because standardizing on a single process design kit allows access and interoperability between any OpenAccess based tool. This significantly reduces support costs, increases tool choice for users, and speeds adoption of new silicon processes on trusted and production ready kits. Silvaco’s custom design tools including Gateway schematic capture and Expert layout editor have recently added support for OpenAccess iPDKs. This support makes design migration across multiple vendor tools easier.
“Interoperability of tools using iPDKs enables us to quickly migrate our designs to new foundry processes,” said IC Microsystems CEO Abdul Rashid. “As a long time user of Silvaco’s custom design tools, we highly value the benefits of OpenAccess iPDKs in our development flow for IoT and advanced analog designs.”
“iPDK support from our foundry partners has been steadily growing, particularly for semiconductor processes used by IoT designs,” stated Dave Dutton, CEO of Silvaco. “Silvaco custom design tools are ideally suited for these process nodes. Now, companies developing these products can ramp a design up quickly using foundry provided iPDKs.”
