IC MICROSYSTEMS Corporation Berhad (ICmicCorp), which is involved in the design of Integrated Circuits (ICs) through its wholly owned subsidiary IC MICROSYSTEMS Sdn Bhd, has received approval from Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (Bursa Securities) and the Securities Commission for its listing on the MESDAQ Market of Bursa Securities.
With the proposed listing targeted by mid 2005, ICmicCorp, which has a range of IC products under its portfolio, will gain the distinction of being the first Fabless IC design company in Malaysia to go public. As a Fabless IC design company, IC MICROSYSTEMS Sdn Bhd, an MSC status company, outsources the manufacturing of its IC devices to external manufacturers.
“The listing will enable us to bring the Group to a higher level of corporate performance where we will be able to invest decisively in state-of-the-art design technology and R&D initiatives,” said En Abd Rashid Munir, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ICmicCorp.
“In line with our strategy for global market expansion, IC MICROSYSTEMS Sdn Bhd recently acquired the Serial EEPROM product business from Intersil Corporation, USA and has entered into a distributor agreement with Avnet Inc, one of the world’s leading distributors of electronic components to customers worldwide,” added En Abd Rashid.
Southern Investment Bank Berhad has been appointed as the adviser, sponsor, managing underwriter and placement agent for ICmicCorp’s public offering.
ICmicCorp was incorporated in Malaysia on 24 March 2004 as an investment holding company to facilitate the listing of the Group on the MESDAQ Market.
Its wholly owned subsidiary IC Microsystems Sdn Bhd is principally involved in IC design and product development, and distribution of electronic design automation tools. The company specialises in Mixed-Signal Data Converter ICs, Phone ICs, Radio Frequency ICs and EEPROM ICs.
The Group has a subsidiary in the USA, ICMIC Corporation, which is involved in marketing and product development. ICMIC Corporation is based in Santa Clara, California.
