Cyberjaya, 25 July 2008: In a major effort to further develop IC design capability in Malaysia, IC Microsystems Sdn Bhd [ICmic], together with its partner, Silvaco Inc. (USA) will sponsor IC design projects and 440 sets of EDA license worth RM70 million, to several selected Malaysian universities. Electronic-Design-Automation [EDA] tool is the software used in assisting engineers in designing an IC [integrated circuit].

INTEGRATED circuit designer IC Microsystems Corp Bhd (ICmic) is planning to
set up and operate two microelectronics, technology development and business
acquisition centres overseas by the middle of this year.The company, which
postponed its plans to raise funds from the local stock market to concentrate
on its overseas expansion,
recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with US-based
Silvaco International Inc and Majlis Amanah Rakyat Malaysia (Mara)
in Santa Clara, California, for the plan.
